It's so much more than a song to me
An expression too beautiful
I can barely comprehend
And it's almost larger than life can be
At the perfect moment
It's life itself.

They are the last romantics, these candles:
Upside-down hearts of light tipping wax fingers,
And the fingers, taken in by their own haloes,
Grown milky, almost clear, like the bodies of saints.
It is touching, the way they'll ignore

A whole family of prominent objects
Simply to plumb the deeps of an eye
In its hollow of shadows, its fringe of reeds,
And the owner past thirty, no beauty at all.
Daylight would be more judicious,

Giving everybody a fair hearing.
They should have gone out with the balloon flights and the stereopticon.
This is no time for the private point of view.
When I light them, my nostrils prickle.
Their pale, tentative yellows

Drag up false, Edwardian sentiments,
And I remember my maternal grandmother from Vienna.
As a schoolgirl she gave roses to Franz Josef.
The burghers sweated and wept. The children wore white.
And my grandfather moped in the Tyrol,

Imagining himself a headwaiter in America,
Floating in a high-church hush
Among ice buckets, frosty napkins.
These little globes of light are sweet as pears.
Kindly with invalids and mawkish women,

They mollify the bald moon.
Nun-souled, they burn heavenward and never marry.
The eyes of the child I nurse are scarcely open.
In twenty years I shall be retrograde
As these drafty ephemerids.

I watch their spilt tears cloud and dull to pearls.
How shall I tell anything at all
To this infant still in a birth-drowse?
Tonight, like a shawl, the mild light enfolds her,
The shadows stoop over the guests at a christening.

--Sylvia Plath

This is about as cheery as her poems get. Anyway, I got some candles today, and I thought the poem was actually inspired, and so this is what I guest blog for you. I'm sorry I didn't write it myself. Hope it isn't too long, but you should have seen the other Plath poem I had picked out before I noticed how long it truly was... heh.

In honor of all the guest blogging festivities over at my place, Misty invited me to come guest blog for her. Unlike my own site, which is more or less a bunch of ramblings and nothingness (they've given me the title "supernothing" for this reason), A Forest of Thoughts actually chronicles things of the productive nature, be it the development of Misty's site/magazine, Crescent Moon, or her placings at her many Irish Dance festivals. As I can neither relay the activities of her site, nor tell you what's been going on in her life, I won't try to compete.

I'm just here to blog about blogging.

My blog has become an increasingly important part of my life. Not only does it allow friends and family to keep in touch, but it also allows me a place to vent my feelings, with the option of editing them before they are released to the public. Yes, I do indeed think at various times throughout the day, "I should blog about this". Of course, few of those things ever make it to the big screen, but the important thing is that I recognize them as 'blogworthy', or something worth immortalizing in type.

I find it to be the best way to determine whether I am living things to their potential. I could live a whole day full of wonderful activities, or even an entire week of them, only to return and say "I can't blog about this". Or perhaps I could stay home the entire week, living off of stale food and my cd player, and when I sit down at the computer, perhaps I would have some wonderful revelation to tell, something worth saying.

I'm not trying to say I would rather spend my life eating stale bread or anything, but isn't it obvious that there's got to be something different in my attitude towards life? I can live the most boring day to it's full potential, and enjoy it. But only if I put my mind to it, only if I have a good attitude about it. Wake up each morning saying "I'm going to have a lot to blog about tonight".

I'm going to change the URL to this blog today or tomorrow from magicafaerystar.blogspot.com to mistymoon.blogspot.com. Please change your links. :)

Today I'm meeting someone at the park. She's also eleven and use to do Irish step dancing (Her older sister still does). We've gotten together once at my house, I have been to her house for practicing for performances, but that's with her older sister. :)

I don't have much to say... I need to practice Irish step dancing since the competition is coming up.

For now, my nickname is Misty Moon, but I'm still open to ideas (hint hint)!

I need a new nickname, MagicaFaeryStar is plainly way to long... Any ideas? Anyone?

Black. A nice color -- but plain. Black goes with everything, that's not fair! ::lol::. Is there no color that looks bad with black? That question remains unknown.
I'm sorry -- I haven't been writing... I've been too busy, Irish dance. Performance a few days ago, next week a performance (I get to performance at the open ceremony of a fair :D), then right after that go to a hotel, the next day a competition, then the next day my sister's competition (We are on different days because of our age difference), and our two people dance (Two hand). I love it enough to do all that, though :), plus more performances this summer! I dances for four hours on St. Patrick's day, though. :) Very tiring.

I'm watching the video tape of the performance from a few days ago on the other computer right now.

Yes, I know, I haven't written in ages (Well, technically a five days), I'm sorry. I've been very busy lately, and would've liked to blog if I had the time. Today I haven't been busy all day -- except for chores, and a lot at that.

The reason I've been busy is mostly from Irish step dancing -- I have many performances coming up (Two fairs and some other performances I think), and the Irish dance competition in a week. So, I've been practicing a lot! Every day, not really, so I'll have to admit for most of my free time I've been with my friends. That's better use of my time, right? Actually, now that I mention it, that would be a very hard question for you to answer, considering you've never met my friends. The computer would probably be more educational, but more healthy -- no. Because some of the times I was swimming with my friends, and the other times, running, climbing trees, and when at one of my friends house, running away from her little brother. ::LOL:: Not to mention being sprayed by a hose by her little brother while my friend and I were in her pool... :-P

I'm going to stop here, I want to work on Crescent Moon more.

I got on the computer for the first time today at 4:00pm... That's because last night I went to bed at 12:00 (There was an old movie called Sabrina on television that was interesting so I wanted to stay up to see it. And, don't worry, it's not "Sabrina the teenage witch" ::LOL::), then at 9:00am my friend called me and my mom picked up the phone, then woke me up to talk to her (Yes, I was asleep ::LOL::). She was inviting me to go swimming, which I did after an hour of getting ready (My mom and little sister came needed to get ready for something else at a park, too...). Then, I met my mom at the park, we stayed there for awhile, then went grocery shopping. I eat an ice cream sandwhich (Healthfood, really!) and drank a smoothie. There was my partly boring day (Swimming wasn't boring, especially because it was with one of my best friends, Rosa). I don't feel like saying specific things about it -- I'm tired.
Yesterday I practiced Irish dance at an Irish dancers home with other Irish dancers... I am also borrowing an Irish dance solo dress which was another Irish dancer's old solo dress. I'll wear the dress in the feis (Irish dance competition). :) Her mom actually made the dress and did the Celtic knot embrodary (sp?)! I'm very excited about the feis! I hope I get lots of 1st's! =D I'm also a bit (for now) nvervous, but not much...

What is everyone's plans for this week and weekend?

Yay! Blogger isn't being slow anymore! :)

Last night I cleaned the entire kitchen! It was a bit hard, but it was mostly dishes (However, there are five people in our family, though, plus someone dropped by our house yesterday...). Actually, I just did the dishes (Put away and put the dishes in the dishwasher -- not to mention I had to wash a few dishes by hand because they were too big) and whiped the counter. Fun! Don't worry, this time I'm kidding. :)

I did change Crescent Moon a lot, but I still need to change it a little. Have any of you updated any of your websites recently? I think I already have the URL, because I think the only person that visits this blog is Amanda/Arue and maybe Amy and Hall. Let me know if there are any more of you out there ;), though, by commenting! =D

I need to go brush my teeth now ::sighs::. I'll try to blog later, though.

Adios!
